When news of Hurricane Katrina first circulated across New Orleans in August 2005, nobody took it seriously. As the storm drew nearer, 17-year-old Louis Devereux was forced to stay behind with his family, while his girlfriend, Monroe Le Blanc, evacuated the city with her parents. After the storm had passed and months went by without any communication, Louis embarked on a mission to find her, determined to do whatever it took. Meanwhile, Monroe had already come to terms with the belief that he had perished. However, if Louis had anything to say about it, neither a human nor a hurricane would keep them apart.
The impending danger of Katrina failed to alarm the residents of New Orleans. While the city braced for impact, Louis remained behind with his loved ones, as Monroe sought refuge elsewhere with hers. Time ticked by without any word from Louis, leading Monroe to assume the worst. Undeterred, Louis set out on a quest to reunite with his significant other, unwilling to accept the possibility of their permanent separation. In contrast, Monroe had already resigned herself to the reality that he was no longer alive. Yet, Louis remained steadfast in his resolve, prepared to defy both nature's wrath and human limitations to reclaim the connection they once shared.
As the fateful hurricane approached, a sense of apathy pervaded the city of New Orleans. While the impending storm prompted many to evacuate, Louis found himself tethered to his family, unable to join his girlfriend in her exodus. In the aftermath, with communication lines severed and uncertainty prevailing, Monroe concluded that Louis had succumbed to the devastation. Unwilling to surrender to this fate, Louis embarked on a determined pursuit to locate Monroe, driven by an unyielding conviction that no force, be it human or natural, would stand in the way of their reunion. Conversely, Monroe had already relinquished hope, resigning herself to the belief that her beloved had perished.
